FieldRADIO / Privacy
Your moments.
Your information.
Privacy information for the current development app. Updated 29 October 2026.
No account and no tracking
FieldRADIO has no account, ads, or analytics, and it asks for no permissions. It never asks for your location: the first station it suggests comes from your device’s region setting.
Finding stations
Station lists and searches come from the Radio Browser directory. When a station starts playing, the app tells Radio Browser once, which counts plays to rank popular stations. Station logos load from the addresses the directory lists.
Listening
A station plays straight from the broadcaster’s stream, which receives the network information needed to send it. Live strange signals connect to a volunteer’s shortwave receiver, found through a public receiver list, which can see your network address. Archive recordings play from the Internet Archive.
On your device
Favorites, recent stations, settings, and the song titles stations send, up to 500, are stored on your device. For a favorite, the app may fetch a larger logo from the station’s own website; it is kept on the device and deleted when you remove the favorite. The globe is drawn on the device from bundled map data.
Optional iCloud sync
iCloud sync is off until you turn it on. Then your favorites, recent stations, theme, music service, and newest 200 songs are kept in your own iCloud account, so your devices match.
Other services
Tapping a song to look it up opens Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, or Tidal. Those services, the directory, broadcasters, and shortwave receivers have their own privacy terms.
